International Conference on Raw Materials and Energy in a Circular and Low-Carbon Economy (update)

We invite you to participate in the International Conference on Raw Materials and Energy in a Circular and Low-Carbon Economy to be held on 14-15 September 2017 in  the Museum of Municipal Engineering, 15, Wawrzyńca St., Cracow.
All neccessary information about Conference, Programme and Registration is available on webpage: http://konferencja-pan.pl/en/
The rational management of raw materials and energy efficiency are key elements in a circular and low-carbon economy. In many countries, including Poland, improving these and contributing not only to reducing the impact on the environment but also ensuring the security of raw materials and energy supply remains a challenge. The introduction of a circular economy, as the Ellen MacArthur Foundation estimates, can contribute to:

  • lowering carbon dioxide emissions by half by 2030,
  • lowering consumption of primary materials by 2050,
  • a significant increase in the rate of recycling and recovery of raw materials from secondary sources,
  • improving energy efficiency.

The European Commission, recognizes the importance of the circular economy, and is developing and implementing an action plan for the whole European Union that outlines new requirements for products, principles of financial support, education, sustainable public procurement, principles for assessing environmental performance using the life-cycle assessment method, and eco-design.
The purpose of this conference is to exchange knowledge and experience on effective methods and directions of management which conform with the rules of the circular economy. On the first day, the conference will examine the urban circular economy i.e. shaping attitudes and engaging citizens, new business models and ways of financing the economic development of cities. The discussion on the second day will focus on the industrial circular economy, including technological issues in the area of raw materials recovery, eco-innovation, improvement in the efficiency of use of energy and materials, waste and emission reduction, as well as economic symbiosis and the use of new IT tools for industrial process management.
Participation in the conference is free of charge – registration for the event is mandatory
